On the job training
A trainee position can be at a municipal council department or in the private sector. To get a trainee position you must be unemployed, aged 18-64 and be selected for the labour market unit. This selection is generally up to the Arbetsförmedlingen (job centre)
or support unit.
The aim of a trainee position is mainly to give you extra work experience but it can also serve another purpose, such as allowing you to try out a certain profession. People who for any reason have been away from the labour market for a long time are also given the option of a trainee position in the form of work testing or work training.
The labour market unit also has access to in-house training, including at Haldahuset Hantverk (handicraft), Aleskogens Hunddagis (dog day care centre), stadsbondgården Olofstorp (city farm), Byggåtervinningen (reclamation yard), Kretsloppan (recycled goods) and Återbruk Flygstaden (recycled goods). We also have access to places in various collaborative projects run by Arbetsförmedlingen (job centre), Försäkringskassa (Social security), Landstinget Halland (county council), municipal council departments/ companies or private sector companies.
Unemployed young people aged between 18 and 24 are a prioritized target group and the labour market unit runs a number of different activities and projects aimed at this target group. One of these is the EU project “Youth in Focus". Another is the activity for young people registered for the Arbetsförmedlingen´s job guarantee for young people. These activities are located in Fattighuset in Lilla Torg.
Since the autumn of 2009 there´s also the opportunity of having a “trial". This trainee position is immediately followed up by temporary employment with pay.
