In Halmstad municipality, it is Hitnet, a wholly owned municipal company, which has the task of supplying Halmstad with its local IT infrastructure for computer communication. Everyone living in Halmstad municipality has equal access to existing and future communication services.
The city network is an open network. Hitnet doesn´t supply any of its own services but lets service suppliers market and sell their products via the open communication network. This allows competition between the various suppliers, which benefits the end customers.
